Norsja

The Norsja were once a powerful race that ruled an empire that stretched across the frozen lands within Orbis. The Norsja split themselves into clans, with leading families. However time was a foe too strong for the Norsja, and soon divisions within the ruling families brought civil war and an end to the empire. Now all that is left of the Norsja is a small clan headed by Þørus Skkelja, and has a population of around 300.

Life:
The Norsja lived in their clans, which gathered every year to discuss progess.
Since their is now only one clan remaining, progress has been advanced in some ways, but limited in others. It is hoped that in the future that the other clans will be reborn, and the traditional way of Norsja life will go on.

The Norsja are stong woriors, and hunt for food on a daily basis. There are equal oppertunites for all to become hunters, as long as food is put on the plate all are welcome to hunt.  The Norsja also farm a few animals, mostly for milk.
To prove their strenght and power the Norsja often hold wresting competitions. These are suppossedly civil affairs, but can become quite messy and bloody.

Hunting:
The Norsja live in the northern regions of Orbis, where the terrain is quite mountainus. There is usually a layer of snow on the ground, so the Norsja use this to their advantage, and are amazing trackers.
Most Norsja use weapons such as spears and axes when hunting, others use swords and clubs, and in rare surcumstances the use of guns and other projectile weapony are used by certain inderviduals.

Religion:
The Norsja have a set of Gods for all weather conditions, and all elements. They pray to their Gods, asking for good conditions to allow for good hunting and livestock to be safe.
When meeting for the clan gathering, religion plays a very important pay with religious dances and songs being perfomed. These roots in tradition are key to Norsja society.

Norsja Energy:

Within the culture of the Norsja there are some, known as Norsjan Shamans have the capability to harness something, given to them by their gods, strengthened through religion, beyond any other species. This is known as Norsjan energy, green lighting energy, that can be used to form anything from a blade, to a potion. Shamans are the only men and women in the species that are capable of using the energy and collect it from rituals, animals that are hunted and foes on the battlefield. The Shamans are then capable, once the energy is collected, of channeling it into weapons that others can wield. The only problem with Norsjan energy is the fact that it is an energy given to them by the gods meaning it is a direct connection to their world. The Norsjan gods, like many gods in myth and legend, are tricksters when they want to be and use and manipulate through the channel of the energy. Norsjan energy can drive a Shaman insane or can lead to the occasional possession by a god. Norsjan energy is not to be tampered with. Those outside the religion the Norsja follow will face dire consequences.
