The Tanin
The Tanin are not from our Universe. They are from an alternate one, hidden within the paint on a canvas. Long ago, the Kira and the Guardians were at war and the Kira were winning. This was because of their ally, the Tanin. The Tanin were a possession force, possessing guardians. The possession tore whatever good there was in a person out and replaced it with pure darkness. The Tanin then fed off the life-force they ripped away...The Guardians began to lose hope because the enemy was even within their very ranks but finally they found a solution. They trapped the Tanin in a living painting. The painting depicted the solar system but without the guardians. The Tanin could take this place and be satisfied. This created a dystopian copy of the Solar System where a lot of the population is possessed. The Tanin painting was locked away in a dark temple situated on an asteroid. It was found thousands of years later by Nightmare pirates hiding from ACR in caves. They uncovered and unlocked the temple and the Tanin inside.
The Night of Garlin's demise
Garlin Cohen was a well known Nightmare Pirate and at the time of his demise, he had pulled off a large heist on a space station stealing a large vessel of goods. These pirates were chased a distance to Antarticum where they were reported to have disappeared. Where they had really gone, was a cave a little off the beaten tracks. Little did they know they were about to stumble across something horrific. Garlin's men entered the temple using explosives and fanned out, clearing all the rooms before they finally came across the gigantic Tanin painting. They soon realised that this was no normal painting, as it began to morph and before long, Garlin and his twelve men, were painted into the painting at the front. They looked different however. Their eyes were hollowed out to just the sockets and they poured black smoke, filling up the room. There has been no significant breach by the Tanin, but when it was finally discovered a few years after by a proper science team, all of Garlin's men were dead. Their image was still painted into the picture but a little boy with a lighter stood front and center. His eyes were on fire. The Science crew avoided any hands on contact with the painting as they found themselves painted into it too. The theory is that most of the people in the Solar System exist within the painting and they come to the front whenever the Tanin sees who they are in this copy. The scientists died mysteriously a few days later. The mystery of the Tanin painting is still a mystery to this day and lives within the vaults of the IPGB building on Gia.
Tanin Possession
Tanin possession is a horrible thing to witness and to feel. When a Tanin creature invades your body, it hollows out your soul turning it black. Then the organs begin to dissolve, turning to black smoke that constantly drifts from empty eye sockets. The Tanin absorbs the personality of the person and the host becomes a dark version of themselves. The difference between the Tanin and something like the Beyond of Morallus is their ability to warp the host. A beyond removes the host entirely. A Tanin creature turns them into a dark copy of the person they once were.
Tanin Weaponry
The Tanin, being a parallel possession force, have their own weapons. The Tanin corrupt the life-force in their systems to generate Dark Life-force weaponry. Dark life-force weapons include:
Dark-force (DF) Assault rifle- A Dark Force Assault rifle is made up of bleached bone. The assault rifle is made up of a singular bone which is then hollowed out by a dark flesh look. This creates holes in the bone, eating away at it just like the Tanin do with the people they possess. The assault rifle fires fast rounds of Dark energy that is turned into bullets that are black like smoke.
Dark-force Pistol- The Dark Force pistol is made of the same material as the assault rifle but is smaller and more compact. When adding attachments such as silencers, the bones extend into the correct shape and use. The Dark Force pistol fires the same kind of energy as the Assault rifle but slower and with less damage.
Tanin Ships
Tanin ships are dark creations. They, like the weaponry, are formed from Dark Force that has been moulded into a ship like cloud. This cloud has the capacity to carry the Tanin across the Solar System. The most amazing thing about the Tanin ships however, is that they mould into existing ships. For those in our Solar System, these Tanin Ships appear to be ghostly versions of what already exists, shrouded in a black darkness. The Tanin seem to enjoy the Prime ships the most and indeed Prime bodies because they seem to be the most fun to corrupt because of their strong minds.
The free
There are some that the Tanin will just never be able to take a whole of. Although all Species are corruptible, Primes, Psycholorians and Antarticonieums are a little harder to grasp a hold of.

The creators characters in the Tanin Universe
Each of the creators characters and indeed the created ones by others in our community all have their own Tanin possessed. Here are the creators characters and where they are and who they are in the Tanin Universe.
- Valdar Oromis- Now king after killing his family, Valdar has been possessed along with a large portion of his race. Those who remain free have escaped, leaving the planet in the clutches of the Tanin. Valdar has whipped his race into a large military and now they travel the Solar System mopping up the free or killing them for their disobedience.
- Dr Jake is the leader of the Tanin, running it with his possessed Stans. He works closely with King Valdar, supplying and endless horde of Stan's to fly with the possessed Antarticonieums.
- Vius Falnius- Vius is now the head of the Free, the large band of remaining unpossessed. Vius tends to universe hop to gain aid from those in our Solar System but the IPGB refuses to get involved until it has some effect on them and those in our Solar System. Vius commands the small amounts of unpossessed left and does so very well. He does this with the aid of Master Danny P, alive in this universe, and his band of Ginger Nexian freedom fighters, (GNFF) known in our Solar System as the GNTS.
- Mortuum Grey- Mortuum Grey, like the rest of his species, is dead. Being the only race that was impossible to corrupt with their links to Dark Force already, it was the only way for the Tanin to control them without the threat of them fighting back. The planet was glassed by the Prime empire and those within died quick deaths. Nothing compared to those who die at the hands of the Tanin. Mortuum Grey, being one of the 15 to escape in the attack, was later captured. The Tanin tried to possess him but found out they couldn't and instead pushed further, melting him down into pure Dark Force. The death was agonising and he is cursed to drift as Dark Force for eternity.
